Put this book on your to-get list: “God Never Blinks: 50 Lessons for Life’s Little Detours” by Regina Brett. You may have seen Brett’s lessons swirling around the Internet. I did, and back in October, I listed them all right here. Now, the newspaper columnist and Pulitzer Prize finalist has turned each lesson into a short essay, and WOW, are they motivating. In fact, I’ve been practicing one of her tips: Instead of saying “I have to … wash the car, drive my kids all over town, exercise,” try saying, “I get to … wash the car, drive my kids all over town, exercise.” It makes a difference, really. I think my 5-mile run was a little more inspired the other day because of this technique. Try it. Then plan to get the book. Or better yet, head over here and enter to score a copy (gotta do it by Wednesday at 5PM, though). Three lucky readers will win!
