They get free reign at places like Disney.com and Lego.com, and they have access to some educational sites, too, but that’s about it. Just seems safest this way. How do you handle computer time?

With summer-like weather comes the need for safety awareness. You know: watch your kids while they swim (don’t leave them even for a second to answer the phone), apply and re-apply sunscreen (on every little itty bitty part of your body, and your kids’ bodies, too), wear life jackets on boats, drink lots of water to avoid dehydration, and the list goes on. My favorite, though, is this: kids, wear shoes when you are outside! If you don’t, you might slip and cut your feet on barnacles! There’s a story behind this fave of mine — take a peek, and then tell us all about your best summer safety advice!

The cribs are in the United States and Canada, and sales of the items date back to 1993. Also, 150,000 of the cribs carry the Fisher-Price logo.

Your kids might know the chant, “Stop, Drop and Roll” for fire safety, but do they know “Ring, Relax and Wait” for elevator safety? Children in New York City just got a lesson from the city’s buildings commissioner and elevator inspectors from the Department of Buildings — they led 150 schoolchildren in Brooklyn in the vertical-living chant so that they’d know what to do if they get stuck in an elevator: Ring the alarm and wait for help.

Seem a bit over-the-top? Nope. Elevators are the real mass transit of New York City, says this article. There are 60,000 of them in residential and commercial buildings, and while most rides are safe, some do have tragic ends.

You might not live in New York City yourself, but why not pass on these three words to your kiddos — just in case.
